REVIEW: The Womanizer "Starlet"

When Peepshow Toys asked if I would review the latest manifestation of the Womanizer clit stimulator, The Starlet,  I jumped at the chance. I’ve enjoyed all of the incarnations on the Womanizer, so my curiosity was piqued.

If you’re not familiar with how the Womanizer models work and why a lot of people with clits go nuts for them, I’ll explain. Instead of using vibration like a traditional vibrator, the silicone nozzle at the business end of the Womanizer “sucks and stimulates through pulsating pressure waves” of air using Womanizer’s special “Pleasure Air Technology”. In short, you part your labia for better access and place the nozzle on top of your clit and apply a little bit of pressure. Fast, little puffs of air emanate out of the nozzle, stimulating one’s clit in a thoroughly unique way. Some people with clits who sing its praises claim that the Womanizer can make them come in about 3 minutes or under. For others, it may take longer but the sensation is considered a singular experience, second to none if your body responds to clit stimulation.

Up until now, the Womanizer has been a larger handheld device. My favorite version has a long handle for people with reach issues or just prefer more maneuverability. That has been my sex toy of choice ever since I got it. However, it is larger and kind of a pain to travel with. Hence, the Womanizer’s new travel size version called “The Starlet”.

The Starlet still operates with their original “Pleasure Air Technology”, and at 3.1 inches from top to bottom and approximately 1.96 inches at its widest point, it certainly is sized for travel. Yes, it's small, yet the removable nozzle head is just as big as the ones on the larger versions, so you’re not missing out on anything. I like that. Operation is easy and intuitive with just one button to switch through intensity levels and to turn it on and off. 30 minutes to charge for 30 minutes of use. Easy Peasy.

In practice, I found the Starlet performs just as effectively as it’s regular-sized counterparts with some key distinctions. There are only 4 intensity levels as opposed to the other Womanizer models which can have up to 12, though I found 4 to be plenty efficient. This travel version is not Waterproof but “splash-proof” so don’t bring it in the shower or the bath. Oh, and it’s loud. If you travel and are staying by yourself in an Air BNB or hotel, that’s probably not a problem. But, if you’re staying on someone’s couch, you might want to consider something quieter, like the WeVibe Tango bullet or the Zumio (read my review here). However, if those little puffs of air really do it for you, maybe sound level is a small price to pay for its unique sensation. Also, if I’m being nitpicky because the Womanizer Starlet is meant for travel, a little travel sack would have been appreciated in order to keep dust, fuzz and whatever else might be floating around your bag from intruding on the inside of the nozzle … but maybe that’s just me. In addition, the charging cable is inordinately short at approximately 8.5 inches long, just long enough to charge on your computer but really too short to plug into a wall.

Regardless of those minor deficiencies and the volume factor, I still love my Womanizer Starlet. It fits comfortably in the palm of my hand and is definitely small enough to fit in my purse. It performs just as well as its larger siblings and, just like the others, the nozzle comes off for cleaning. I will definitely be taking it with me on a trip I’m taking next month in place of other items I would’ve bought. Thank you Peepshow Toys!
